Abstract
Objective : To develop a cognitive applications for the promotion Activities of daily living of the elderly and to evaluate its usability. Therefore, in this study, we intends to verify the validity of this application by conducting a usability evaluation on the application developed for the improvement of Activities of daily living and Cognitive functions of the elderly for middle-aged and elderly and occupational therapists.

Methods : This study developed a cognitive application to promote Activities of daily living for the elderly from September to October 2022. For verification, usability evaluation was applied to 20 middle-aged and elderly in their 50s or older living in the local community and 20 occupational therapists. Data was analyzed through descriptive statistics using SPSS version 27.0.

Results : As a result of the usability evaluation, middle-aged and elderly groups scored high with 4.52(0.92) and 4.43(0.97) points, respectively, in the items of ¡®Possibility of use at home or institutions¡¯ and ¡®Need to develop cognitive applications¡¯. However, it gave a low score of ¡®Appropriateness of ease of use (button size, color) of cognitive applications¡¯. In the case of the occupational therapist group, the ¡®Need to develop cognitive applications¡¯ and ¡®Overall satisfaction with cognitive applications¡¯ showed high scores of 4.25(0.85), respectively. On the other hand, the item ¡®Appropriateness of ease of use (button size and color) of cognitive applications¡¯ was scored relatively low at 3.70(1.13).

Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, it is expected that the technical aspects of cognitive applications can be supplemented by correcting the problems of the research results, and that they can serve as basic data that can be referred to when conducting large-scale usability evaluations in the future.
